Kathryn Marie Davis, 100, formerly of Meadville and a resident of Glendale, AZ died Friday, February 2, 2007 in Phoenix, AZ after a period of failing health.
She was born in Vernon Twp., February 9, 1906 a daughter of William Woodruff and Kathryn Yochum Davis.
Miss Davis was a 1928 graduate of Allegheny College and the American Conservatory of Chicago. She was a music educator having taught in the public schools of Eldred, PA and W. Mead Twp. She gave private piano lessons, served as organist at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and the Meadville Alliance Church and accompanied a number of singing groups in the area.
She continued her music career after moving in 1961 to Phoenix where she was pianist at West Congregational Church and at Bethany Bible Church, where she was a member. Her lifelong interest in missions led to a three-year-period spent teaching piano to children of missionaries in Quito, Ecuador.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Wallace Davis and one sister, Mrs. Harry (Arline) Hauser. She is survived by two nieces and two nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday at the A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, Phoenix where services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.
Graveside services will be held in March in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg at a date and time to be announced.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA.
