Kathryn Tingler

January 6, 1888 — May 25, 1949

Mrs. Kathryn Tingler, wife of the Rev. V. J. Tingler, pastor-emeritus of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church died suddenly Friday afternoon at City Hospital, following a short illness.

Mrs. Tingler came here with her husband in 1933 when the minister accepted the local church pastorate.

During the 15 years he served, she was active in several church societies and taught the Loyal Daughters Class.

When her husband retired as pastor-emeritus in 1948 to be called into service again as pastor of Park Avenue Congregational Church, Mrs. Tingler became teacher of the Congregational Adult Bible Class.  She continued to teach for three years.

She was a past president of the Meadville Study Club and at time of her death was president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union here.

The Rev. and Mrs. Tingler celebrated their golden wedding anniversary May 25, 1949.  Before coming to St. Paul's, they served Evangelical and Reformed parishes at Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Buffalo and Sandusky, OH.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Margard of Crestline, OH; a granddaughter, Karen Margard; a brother, H. G. Myers of Atlantic City, NJ and two sisters, Mrs. Harold Walker of Maplewood, NJ and Mrs. Lester Kilyard of Salem, NJ.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
