Kela L. Hartman

April 18, 1951 — January 31, 2019

Kela L. Hartman, 67, of Guys Mills, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Meadville Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born April 18, 1951 in Johnstown, a daughter of Janet Louise (Dick) Kramer.  She married James N. Hartman, Sr. October 1, 1966 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage.

Kela was a 1988 graduate of the Penncrest School District Adult Education Class and a 2005 graduate of Laurel Technical Institute with an associate’s degree in business.  A homemaker, she also worked in accounts payable for Crawford County Human Services.

Kela was a member of West Mead 2 and Cochranton Station 4 fire halls.  She was of the Baptist faith and was a long-time supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, quilting, playing cards and bingo and especially time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Jim, include three sons, James Hartman, Jr. of Guys Mills, Charles Hartman (Nikki) of Meadville, and Troy Hartman (Gloria) of Guys Mills; her mother, Janet Kramer (Bruce) of Arcade, NY; six grandchildren, Tausha Rhoades (Adam), Chelsea Schultz (Kyle Jeannerett), Kyle Augustine (Kayla), Joshua Augustine, Brittany Augustine (Erik), and David Laible (Genny); eleven great-grandchildren, Noah Rhoades, Tanner Schultz, Kole Jeannerett, Nevaeh, Aiden, and Lilyana Augustine, Landon Reed, and Blake, Jordan, Jace and Lincoln Laible; a brother, James Banks (Anne) of Kissimmee, FL; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sarah E. Tillinghast and Charles K. Hartman; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ellis and Lois Dick; twin uncles, Ronnie and Donnie Dick; a niece, Jenna Banks; and several Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law.

Calling hours will be Sunday, February 3rd from 12 -3 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dave Brumagin officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Rd., Meadville, PA 16335 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
