Kenneth F. Chismar

Kenneth F. Chismar, 80, of Blooming Valley, died at home surrounded by his family Tuesday, October 21, 2014.

He was born November 29, 1933 in Blooming Valley a son of Frank and Emma Yockman Chismar.  He first married Jean and subsequently married Delores Mook January 17, 1976 and she preceded him in death December 10, 2013.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army from 1954 – 1956.  He worked for many years as a Supervisor in the Spinning Dept. of Avtex Inc.  He subsequently worked as an insurance agent for American General and then in his retirement worked as a custodian at Layke Tool & Mfg.  He was an active bee keeper for many years and enjoyed selling the honey.

Survivors include a son, Steven Chismar of Meadville; a step-daughter, Debra Stallard and her husband Michael of Meadville; a step-son, Steven Myers of Meadville; a sister, Hilda Bollis of Florida; four grandsons, Shawn Rhoades and his fiancé Marcie Pifer; Joshua Rhoades and his wife Amanda, Zachary Myers and his wife Jen and Taylor Myers; seven great grandchildren and one due January 2015.

In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mike Chismar; five brothers, Frank, Edward, Andrew, Raymond and John and three sisters, Ethel, Helen and Anna.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Berta L. Newsome Jones, Pastor of United Faith Fellowship Church of God, officiating.

Interment with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 310 N. Monroe Street, Titusville, PA 16354.
