Kenneth G. Maloney

Kenneth G. Maloney, 85, formerly of Mosiertown Road, Meadville and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center since 2002, died there, Sunday, May 2, 2010.

He was born in Meadville September 7, 1924 a son of Alfred and Mary Dain Maloney.  He married Rhea DeMaison June 20, 1953 and she preceded him in death June 13, 2003.

He retired as a shipping clerk with Talon Inc. after 40 years of service.  He was a veteran of World War II in the US Army serving in the 955th Ordnance Motor Vehicle Distribution Co.  He served in the European Theater including Northern France, Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe delivering vehicles from ordnance to forward units in combat.  His citation included European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.

He was a former member of the Meadville Rescue Squad.  He was very devoted to his family and he enjoyed fishing and doing puzzles.

Survivors, include a son, Michael K. Maloney and his wife Debra of Meadville; two grandchildren, Matthew Maloney and Dayna Maloney; three sisters, Wilma Campbell, Isabelle Dorwart and Mildred Huber all of Meadville; a brother, Elton Maloney of Saegertown and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen L. Maloney; three brothers, Harold Maloney, Orville Maloney and Auldrain Maloney and a sister, Jessie Knight.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin, Meadville Medical Center, Chaplain, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
