Kenneth L. Rupp

October 5, 1905 — July 5, 1985

Kenneth L. Rupp, 79, of Meadville, died Friday, July 5, 1985, at Spencer Hospital.

He was born at Kittanning, October 5, 1905, a son of Harvey and Laura Dill Rupp.  He married Helen E. Johnston, December 12, 1927, who survives.

Mr. Rupp and his father were pioneers in the service station business from 1924 to 1946 at State and Grove Street.  He joined Talon in 1941 as a tool engineer until 1950 when he joined Pittsburgh Westinghouse Electric Corporation as an engineer.

He participated in pioneering the first nuclear submarine Nautilius.  He assisted in the design of the critcial facility corps for the skipjack submarine.  He was a foreman of the Polaris and Poseiden missilecarrying submarines.  He had a number of patent disclosures to his credit while with Bettis.  He retired to Meadville in 1970.

Mr. Rupp was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assn. and a member of Model Railroad Assn.

Survivors, in addition to his wife include three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Stein of Conneaut Lake, Mrs. Connie Crytzer of Maryland and Mrs. James (Linda) LaScola of Meadville; a son, James R. Rupp of Conneaut Lake; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
