Kenneth Lensner Montag

Kenneth Lensner Montag, 92, of Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community died Friday, August 7, 2020 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born September 7, 1927 in Butler a son of Ralph L. and Virginia Lensner Montag.  He married Rosemary Dubyak September 20, 1969 and she preceded him in death March 6, 2004.

He was a 1945 graduate of Butler High School and a 1953 graduate of Grove City College.  He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.  He spent most of his working life as a trust officer retiring from PNC Bank in Meadville as Assistant Vice-President in 1992.

He was a very active member of the community serving as treasurer of the Meadville Medical Center Foundation for 10 years and member of the hospital’s Board of Corporators and Red Coat Volunteer.  He was secretary of the Allegheny Region of the American Red Cross served on the Board of Directors and chaired the Finance and Development Committee for the Pennsylvania Council of the American Red Cross.  He was member, Past President and Past Treasurer of the Meadville Kiwanis Club.  He was also a member of S.C.O.R.E. (Senior Corps of Retired Executives) and was a board member, secretary and elected Director Emeritus of the Crawford Heritage Foundation.  He was also a member of Meadville Roundtable, Iroquois Club and Meadville Country Club.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on church council and sang in the choir.  He was treasurer of the Crawford County Historical Society for 20 years and was board member and treasurer of Greendale Cemetery Association.  He was also a 50 year member of Masonic Victory Lodge #694, Butler, PA.

He is survived by his daughter Beth Ann Montag Schmaltz and her husband Christopher of Seattle, WA and a sister, Suzanne Buttner of New Jersey and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rhoda Lee Montag and a brother, Ralph Lynn Montag.

Calling hours will be Monday, August 10th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 649 Park Avenue, Meadville.

The funeral service will follow at the church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Benjamin Travis, Pastor, officiating.  CDC guidelines for masking and social distancing will be followed.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post 2006.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Red Cross, Allegheny Region Chapter, 4961 Pittsburgh Avenue, Erie, PA 16509
