Kenneth W. Slosky, Jr., 85, formerly of Conneaut Lake and a resident of Rolling Fields, passed away there, Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
He was born January 12, 1933 in California, PA, a son of Kenneth W. and Naomi V. Gillis Slosky, Sr. He married Emma Louise Hogan September 13, 1958 and she preceded him in death October 1, 2017.
Ken was a 1951 graduate of New Kensington High School and attended Westminster College on a football scholarship. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked briefly at Alcoa Aluminum before returning to college at Slippery Rock University where he graduated in 1959 with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education and a minor in Driver’s Education. Ken taught briefly at Emlenton High School and subsequently taught health and physical education at Linesville High School for 33 years. He coached gymnastics, football and soccer for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed reading, golfing, dancing with his wife on Friday nights at Conneaut Lake VFD Station 5 where he was a member, spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Slosky and his wife Perri of Wheeling, WV; four children, Julie Goldhart and her husband Robert, Jr. of Greenville, Doug Slosky of Casselberry, FL, Shari Cafaro and her partner Tonya White of Conneaut Lake, and Jeffrey Jay Slosky and his fiancée Amy Davies of Greensburg and Amy’s son, Maxwell Davies; three grandchildren, Victor Cafaro and his wife Sasha of Colorado, Anthony Cafaro of Linesville, and Katie Goldhart of Grove City; four great-grandchildren, Victor, Jr., Flynn, Natalie, and Eva Cafaro; and a niece, Christy Slosky Beltran and her husband Ben of Leesburg, VA and their son, Derek Beltran.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 28th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE.
The funeral service will be Friday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin officiating.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 2006, Meadville.
