Kermit K. Altenburg

Kermit K. Altenburg, 93, of Brandon, FL, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Melech Hospice House, Temple Terrace, FL following a period of declining health.

He was born April 26, 1921 in Titusville, a son of Arthur E. and Zoe Vandervort Altenburg.  He married Evelyn Patton June 3, 1943 and she preceded him in death November 28, 2009.

Kermit was formerly of Conneaut Lake until retiring to Hudson, FL.  He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.  He was employed as a store manager for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.  He was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Conneaut Lake and was a member and past president of the Pennsylvania Club, Hudson, FL.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel G. Altenburg of Brandon, FL and Kermit E. Altenburg and his wife Kathy of Hudson, FL and their children Autumn, Zachary, Kerma Lea, and Summer Altenburg; and an additional grandson, Casey Altenburg of Meadville who is a son of the late David Altenburg.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, David R. Altenburg; a daughter, Kerma Lea Altenburg; a brother, Arthur Altenburg; and two sisters, Virginia Hornak and Gale Curlott.

A graveside service will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Kingsley Cemetery, Townville with the Rev. Dave Brumagin, Associate Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating and military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.

The arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where memories and condolences may be shared at waidfuneralhome.net.
