Klaus Stürzebecher

June 15, 1930 — December 28, 2015

Klaus Stürzebecher, 85, of Meadville died Monday, December 28, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 15, 1930 in Memel, Germany a son of Kurt and Lisbeth Singer Stürzebecher.  He married Wilma Heine November 17, 1951 and she survives.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army from 1953 – 1955.  He worked for Electrolux Corp for over 20 years, initially in sales and mostly in management and then subsequently worked as an agent for New York Life Insurance Co. for 36 years, retiring January 1, 2012.

He was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown, a member of Cochranton Masonic Lodge #790, a life-member of Huidekoper VFW Post #2006, the Conneaut Lake, White Oak and Greenville Sportsman’s Clubs and the National Rifle Association.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Wilma of 64 years, include: two sons, Klaus D. Stürzebecher of Pittsburgh and Kurt J. Stürzebecher and his wife Beth of Meadville; a daughter, Helga M. Mervine of Erie; six grandchildren, Erik, Alex, Andrew and Emily Stürzebecher and Karl and Maria Mervine and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Günther Stürzebecher and a brother, Otto Stürzebecher.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  Cochranton Masonic Lodge #790 will conduct a Masonic service Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The memorial service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Fischer, Pastor of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in Greendale Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335, The National Rifle Association Foundation, P.O. Box 1546, Merrifield, VA 22116-9851, Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
