Kurt C. Glaubach

December 16, 1899 — May 9, 1964

Kurt C. Glaubach, 64, of Meadville, a professional photographer in Meadville since 1932, died suddenly Saturday, May 9, 1964, at his home.

Mr. Glaubach opened his first studio on Chestnut Street after coming to Meadville from Erie.  He moved to South Main Street in 1938 where he specialized in portrait and industrial photography and photographic reproduction work.

He was a member of the Meadville Rotary Club and the Camp Lend-A-Hand committee.

Mr. Glaubach was born at Zweibrucken, Germany, December 16, 1899, a son of Paul and Emma Marr Glaubach.  He served in the German Army and Air Force during World War I and was a prisoner of the American Army for about a year.  He was a graduate of the Real Schule of Photography, Munich, Germany, with a degree of master in photoography.  He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ.

He came to the US in 1926 and became an American citizen in 1936.  Before coming to Meadville, he was affiliated with Trinity Court Studios in Pittsburgh, and the General Electric Co. photo laboratory at Erie.  He holds a patent for an industrial photographic process which he developed.

Mr. Glaubach married the former Wilhelmina Sommer of Erie on June 27, 1930, who survives.  They have four children, Mrs. Richard (Marguerite) Eckart of Cleveland, Kurt W. of Warminister, Air Force, 2nd Lt. Peter M. of George Air Force Base, Victorville, CA and Pvt. John D. with the Marines in Japan.

Also surviving are four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Annemiete Leiner of Zweibrucken and several nieces and nephews.  His mother died in August 1956 while Mr. Glaubach was visiting Germany for the first time in 24 years.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Erie Cemetery.
