L. C. Devore

L. C. (Roy) DeVore, 78, of Meadville, died at City Hospital, Friday, October 9, 1981, after a three-month illness. He was born in West Mead Township, October 10, 1902, a son of C. C. and Eva Roche DeVore. He married Elizabeth Frye May 28, 1927. Mr. DeVore was retired from Lyman-Felheim Corp. where he had been president for several years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a teacher for Wesleyan Crusaders Sunday School class, a superintendent of the Sunday School, member of the church board, 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 408, member of Meadville Council of Churches and was active in the Meals on Wheels program. In the early 1930s, he and partner Robert Boynton were instrumental in establishing Meadville airport. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. James Wettach of Meadville; a niece, Mrs. Thomas Beers of Meadville; a nephew, James Knapp of Buffalo and eight great-nieces and great-nephews. Services were held at Waid Funeral Home. Interment was in Greendale Cemetery. Services Past Services
