L. Rex Byham

L. Rex Byham, 70, of Guys Mills, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Meadville Medical Center following an unexpected illness.

He was born in Meadville December 3, 1938, a son of Lewis R. and Anastasia Thornton Byham.  He married Jane Carpenter October 18, 1957.

Rex was a 1956 graduate of Massanutten Military Academy, Woodstock, VA.  He was employed as an electrician for over 41 years for Meadville Malleable Company and its successor Advanced Cast Products, Meadville, retiring in 2000.

Rex was a life-member of the North American Hunting Club, and member of the National Rifle Association and Crawford County Chapter of the PA Farm Bureau.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Jane of 51 years, include 4 children, Barbara Byham of Seattle, WA, David Byham of Cecil, PA, Richard Byham and his wife Sandy of Saegertown, and Dianne McCauley and her husband Jim of Boiling Springs, SC; his mother, Anastasia Byham of Meadville; 3 grandchildren, Greg, Eric, and Adam Byham; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Allan Byham.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral and committal service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor of Mt. Hope and Pine Grove United Methodist Churches, officiating.

The family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
