LaVerne W. (Chub) McMaster, 83, of Meadville, formerly of Cochranton passed away Monday, May 24, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his entire family following a long term illness. He was born December 6, 1937 at New Bethlehem, PA the youngest son of Thomas James and Susan Wells McMaster. Chub graduated in 1955 from Cochranton High School. He was a Veteran serving in the US Army from 1956-1958 and was stationed in Germany and from 1961-1962 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Following his military service, he worked in the pipe shop at the American Viscose Corp. Thereafter, he worked for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local retiring in 2000. He was a life member of Cochranton Area Sportsmens Club and National Rifle Association, a member of Cochranton American Legion Post #836 and Cochranton Fire Department. Chub was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, especially coyote, deer and turkey. He also enjoyed fishing and in his younger years, trapping. Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling. Chubs true love was his wife and family. On September 12, 1959, he married the former Vivian Heffernan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey McMaster and friend, Pam Britton; three daughters, Joy Kasbee and husband Ed, Julie Hamilton and fiance, Mike Pratt and Jodi Loutzenhiser and husband, Fred; eleven grandchildren, Jessica McMaster (Gary Gledhill), Jennifer Irwin, Rilee Orndorff and husband Cody, Lindsee Kasbee (Kenny Custead), Jenna Nagel and husband Matt, Haylee Murray (Damon Schiestle), Shane Hamilton, Josh Betts (Meghan McKnight), Kaytee Betts (Jake Leicht), Amanda Shields and husband Corey, Alicia Kenny and husband Tyler; ten great grandchildren, Louden, Cadence and Wells Gledhill, Kenadee, Kamryn and Weston Irwin, Leo and Ellie Nagel, Blakely Betts, Delilah Shields and Baby Orndorff on the way; three sisters, LaRue Mook of Grove City, Lillian Bodle and husband William of Green Valley, AZ and Connie Siverd and husband Clyde of Rochester, NY; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Greathouse of Meadville and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, two brothers, Lyle and Pete McMaster; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Per his wishes, private family services will be held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with Rev. John McGarvey, Pastor of Cochranton Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Cochranton Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
