Lawrence Allen Morgan

Lawrence (Larry) Morgan, 62, of Conneaut Lake, died peacefully Saturday, November 20, 2010.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio  September 20, 1948.  Larry was the son of Elizabeth (Brown) and Robert Morgan and stepson to Monteen Morgan.  He married the love of his life, Barbara Dahl February 13, 1971.

Upon graduating from Youngstown State University in 1971, Larry began a successful business career at Beckett Aviation in Youngstown; which later became Chessie System, Inc, where he served as Vice President of Finance.  He received an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College, and with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Larry bought a franchise of Thrifty Car Rental in 1985 in Cleveland and successfully grew one location into ten throughout Northeastern Ohio.  Larry was also part owner of Million Air, a fixed base operation in Cleveland.  Most recently, Larry worked in the Small Business Development Center at Gannon University.

He always loved Conneaut Lake  and after owning a summer cottage there for more than 20 years, he made his family home a permanent residence in 2006.   An active member of the community, Larry was on the Board of Conneaut Lake Park and was President of the Boys Basketball Boosters at Conneaut Lake High School.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Barbara; was a loving father to daughters Jennifer Allanson of Avon Lake, Ohio and her husband, Joe; Felicia Kutchel of Strongsville, Ohio and her husband, Dan; and son, Michael of Conneaut Lake.  The light of his life were his four granddaughters, Abigail, Gwendolyn, Lyndsey and Lauren.  He is also survived his father and stepmother, Robert and Monteen Morgan of Youngstown; stepbrothers, Jim and Tim Evans; and a stepsister, Debby Bengala.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Jonathon Morgan.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth Street, Conneaut Lake with Fr. Steve Anderson as Celebrant.
