Lawrence P. (Shorty) Southworth, 73, of Meadville Health and Rehabilitation Center, died there unexpectedly Tuesday, December 29, 1998. He was born in Meadville, June 25, 1925, a son of Clyde and Gladys Gilmore Southworth. He first married Donna Smith and subsequently married Betty Betts, November 22, 1956. She survives. He was employed as a professional truck driver for many years. He enjoyed fishing and had been an avid CB radio operator. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Karen Colvin of Portland, OR, Elizabeth Marty of Rittman, OH, Judy Plucinik of Clyde, NY and Mary Johnson of Clyde; three sons, Clyde Southworth of Tupelo, MS, Lawrence (Butch) Southworth, Jr. of Meadville and Joseph Southworth of Cochranton; one brother, Russell Southworth, formerly of Meadville; twenty-one grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Marie Southworth. Services were held at Waid Funeral Home. Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery. Services Past Services
