Lawrence W. “Jim” Cox, 87, of 14484 Cox Road, Guys Mills, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Crawford County Care Center, after a brief period of declining health.
He was born in Randolph Twp. February 19, 1918, a son of Fred & Loretta Steele Cox. He married Fern E. Lingo Nov. 22, 1939, and she preceded him in death June 23, 1978.
He attended Guys Mills public schools and was employed at several companies before joining the maintenance department of Wesbury United Methodist Community where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.
He attended Lyona Bible Church, and enjoyed his family, gardening, and farming.
Survivors include two sons, Larry L. Cox and his wife Carol Ann of Guys Mills, and John K. Cox and his wife Mary Grace of Guys Mills; six grandchildren, Sue Hope and her husband Gregg, Tim Cox and his wife Lynne, William Cox and his wife Maureen, Steve Cox and his wife Crystal, Seth Cox, and Mark Cox and his wife Julie twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Louis Cox and his wife Mary Ann of Zephyrhills, FL and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Walter and Mark Cox.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Walton, Associate Pastor of Lyona Bible Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
