Lela May Snyder, 79, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville since February, died Monday, November 30, 1998 at Meadville Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born in Henderson Township, Jefferson County, PA, May 1, 1919, a daughter of Clair and Florence Shearer Pifer. She married Rev. Richard B. Snyder, December 4, 1938 and he preceded her in death January 4, 1996.
She was a graduate of Sykes High School, Sykesville and was a homemaker for most of her life.
Previously, she worked briefly for the Sylvania Electric Co. in Brookville and the Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Pittsburgh. She also assisted her husband at the various churches he served in the Western PA Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville.
Survivors include two sons, Malcolm P. Snyder of Johnstown and Robert P. Snyder of Palm Bay, FL; three daughters, L. Kaye Richards of Melbourne, FL, Gail E. Alexander of Toledo, OH and Betty Lee Hollabaugh of Townville; a sister, Lois Zufall of Reynoldsville; a brother, F. Bruce Pifer of Citrus Springs, FL; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister Inez Kerr and a brother, John T. Pifer.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Paradise U.C.C. Cemetery, Henderson Township, Jefferson County, PA.
