Lela Nageotte passed away peacefully at age 97 on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Crawford County Care Center where she was a resident for the past two and a half years. Lela, the daughter of Lyle Smith and Saloma Theuret Smith, was born August 2, 1923 in Blooming Valley, PA. She married Clifford L. Nageotte on August 2, 1941, and for 65 years of marriage they resided in West Mead Township. Clifford preceded her in death on March 1, 2006. Lela was an outstanding homemaker, and won awards at the Crawford County Fair in cooking, crocheting, quilting and gardening. She loved dancing and music and played both the guitar and piano. Over the years Lela was actively involved in her community and a member/volunteer of the Elks Club, Meadville Womans Club, Presbyterian Ladies Auxiliary, Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary, American Red Cross and other local organizations. In addition to her husband Clifford, she was preceded in death by her two brothers Carl Smith and Frank Humes; her twin sisters Katherine Melvin and Ida Edge; two stepbrothers Merle Humes and Harold Humes, and a stepsister Mattie Briggs. Lela is survived by six children, ten grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. The six children are Lyle C. Nageotte (Diana) of Hilliard, OH; Donnell Beday of Raleigh, NC; Patricia Bergamasco (Fiore) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Priscilla London (Joe - deceased) of Lexington, KY; Gail Walters (Dale) of Savannah, GA; Claudia Riggs (Geoff) of Mt. Juliet, TN. Grandchildren are as follows: Greg Nageotte of Reynoldsburg, OH; Heather Ewald (Paul - deceased) of Grove City, OH; Alvie Richardson (Kelly) of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; Lovelle Overbey (Alan) of Greensboro, NC; Dante Bergamasco of Cary, NC; James Teasdale (Betsy) of Meadville, PA; Samuel Teasdale (Carla) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Sabrina Keim of Bethlehem, PA; Tiffany Walters of New Orleans, LA; step-granddaughter Anne Ratcliff (Brian) of Grove City, OH. Great-grandchildren are as follows: Marissa and Gwenna Nageotte; Connor and Daniel Ewald; Marshall, Olivia, Lauren, and Luke Richardson; Tate and Carter Overbey; Jillian and Riley Bergamasco; Chelsea and Jamie Teasdale; Sarah and Parker Teasdale; Gavin Keim; and step-great-granddaughters Stephanie and Abbie Neer. A Celebration of Life Memorial Luncheon will be Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Blooming Valley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 24740 State Street, Meadville, PA. All family and friends are invited; please bring photos, stories and memories to share with the family. Interment will be at Greendale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W.
