Leonard D. Sheakley

May 8, 1896 — January 1, 1753

Leonard D. Sheakley, 59, of Meadville, died suddenly Sunday afternoon at his cabin near Endeavor in Forest County.  He was stricken with a heart attack while pitching quoits with neighbors.

Mr. Sheakley, son of the late John D. and Anna Philips Sheakley, spent his early life in Sheakleyville and graduated from Fredonia High School.

He was a US Army veteran of World War I, with 13 months in France; a member of Charles N. Stafford American Legion Post 111; 40 and 8; and Lodge 408, Free and Accepted Masons.

Mr. Sheakley was employed as a salesman in several fields, insurance, automobile and real estate.  Recently, he was an attendant at Polk State School.

Surviving are his widow, Hazel Wright Sheakley; a son, Leonard J. (Speed) Sheakley of Verona, NJ; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Powell of West Middlesex and Mrs. W. A. Cousins of Levittown; one sister, Mrs. Robert Kelso of Hadley; a twin brother, Anderson H. Sheakley of Meadville and five grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
