Leota M. Schaeffer

Mrs. LeOta M. Schaeffer, 53, wife of LaVerne E. Schaeffer, Mercer Street, Sandy Lake, died at Greenville Hospital Tuesday, October 13, 1981, after a sudden illness.

She was born at Sandy Lake, December 6, 1927, daughter of William H. and Elizabeth B. Tribby Beggs.  She married Schaeffer November 16, 1950.  She retired three years ago after 30 years of teaching music at Randolph-East Mead Elementary School.

Mrs. Schaeffer was a member of Perry Baptist Church, New Vernon.  She was a 1949 graduate of Westminster College, New Wilmington, where she received a master's degree.  She also attended Pennsylvania State University, University of Pittsburgh; Fred Waring's School of Music, Delaware Water Gap and Appalachia State Teachers College, Boone, NC.  She was a member of Col. Crawford Chapter, Daughters of American Revolution.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Mrs. Lois Peck at Home; an aunt, Mrs. LeOta Hollister of Sandy Lake; a brother, William E. Beggs of New Vernon and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
