Leroy J. Ferry

Leroy J. Ferry, 77, of Meadville, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 28, 1944 in Meadville, a son of Harley and Mae Kightlinger Ferry.  He married Sandra Barlow June 5, 1965.

Leroy worked in the maintenance department at Edinboro University for 23 years and previously worked at Talon and Sunbeam.  In retirement, he worked for Richard Schnarrs Construction.

Leroy was a member of New Beginnings Church of God.  He enjoyed cutting and selling firewood for many years and conversing with his customers.  He especially enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Sandra, include a son Raymond Ferry (Dawn Esterly) of Meadville; a daughter, Patricia Mears of Meadville; four grandchildren, Caleb (Danae), Drew, Logan (Samantha), and Annika Mears; four great-grandchildren, Emerson, Remington, Lincoln, and Aurelia Mears; three brothers, Carl Ferry (Marguerite) of North Carolina, Floyd Ferry (Melody) of Meadville, and Steve Ferry (Patricia) of Meadville; and numerous nieces nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Hope; two brothers, Wayne and Robert Ferry; a half-brother, Harold Smith and an infant half-sister.

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 26th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Cliff Forbes, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
