Leroy Martin "Marty" Wood

Leroy Martin “Marty” Wood, 76 of Chicora, formerly of Stoneboro, passed away on April 5, 2021 at Butler Memorial Hospital. Marty was born in Meadville on December 11, 1944 to the late Lester and Ada Bonita “Bonnie” (Brandon) Wood. Marty proudly served his Country in the United States Army from 1962-1965. After his service he worked as a Coal Miner for Adobe Mines for many years. He married his beloved wife. Sharon M. Acuri Wood on August 21, 1965, she preceded him in death on October 23, 2015. Marty loved his family and his many extended family members and friends. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed helping his boys with their Volkswagen projects. He had a great passion and talent for small engine repair. He was very knowledgeable of cars, always knowing the exact make, model and year, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his family. Before his wife’s passing, they enjoyed taking many trips together, especially to Myrtle Beach and Maine. Marty is survived by his twin sons, Kenneth M. Wood and companion Jennifer of Meadville and Joseph A. Wood and fiancé Chrissy of Meadville, and brothers Doug, Gordon, and Dave Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Don, and sister Karen. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 3 – 6 pm on Friday, April 9, 2021. Military Honors and a time of sharing will follow visitation at 6 pm at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at Kiser Hill Cemetery, Meadville.
