Lewis A. Shilling, 77, of Meadville, died unexpectedly Friday, June 25, 1999 at the Crawford County Care Center.
He was born in Meadville, July 26, 1921, a son of Andrew Delbert and Gertrude Emma Smock Shilling. He married Jane Mills August 5, 1963 and she preceded him in death May 2, 1991.
He worked as a crane operator for Meadville Metal Co. retiring in 1982. Previously, he had worked for Channellock and in Cleveland, OH. He attended Meadville Public Schools, was a veteran of WWII with the US Army in Europe, having participated in the Normandy invasion. He was a member of Vernon VFD, Eagles Lodge #429 and a life member of VFW Post #2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Daphne Maillard (Terry) of Guys Mills; a son, William A. Shilling (Shelly) of Ft. Rucker, AL; a step-daughter, Cindy Eslick of Seattle, WA; two step-sons, Raymond Eslick of Detroit, MI and Randy Eslick of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Merl W. Shilling of Meadville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a niece.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Shilling.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
