Lewis Edwin Wallis, 71, resident of Guys Mills, Randolph Township, for the past six years, died at Spencer Hospital, Friday afternoon, May 27, 1960, after an illness of two days.
He was born in Glassport, October 13, 1888, a son of Lewis and Anne Wallis. His wife, the former Frances Werner, preceded him in death.
He was employed for 30 years by the River Terminal Railroad in Cleveland as yard conductor and yardmaster. A veteran of WWI, he served as a sergeant with the 80th Division, Co. I. He was a member of the American Legion in Garfield Heights, OH, and later in Meadville, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bedford, OH.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Jean) Bissell) of Meadville; two sons, William and James at home; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Selma) Smith of Glassport and Mrs. Anna Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ; a brother, Harry of McKeesport and two granddaughters.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
