Lewis M. Hilliard

Lewis M. Hilliard, 94, of Meadville, an insuranceman for 42 years, died at his home Thursday, February 12, 1970, after being in failing health for several months.

He was born in Marcellus, NY, May 25, 1875, a son of Horace and Sate Lee Hilliard.  He moved to Meadville when he was 8 years old.  He resided in Kerrtown for 33 years before moving to Clinton Court in 1948.

He spent most of his 42 years in the insurance business in the Meadville Area.

He married the former Elsie Garrison April 8, 1899.  She died in 1959.

He was a member of First Baptist Church.  He also belonged to Venango Odd Fellows Lodge, Franklin, for over 50 years.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Leroy (Josephine) Garrison of Meadville and Mrs. Inez Hilliard of St. Petersburg, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
