Lillian Estelle Mccooey

August 11, 1914 — November 12, 2004

Lillian Estelle McCooey, 90, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, died Friday November 12, 2004, at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

She was born in Meadville, August 11, 1914, a daughter of Carl O. & Dorothy Crouch First.  She first married Robert John Beatty, June 23, 1935, and subsequently married John H. McCooey, December 24, 1949, and he preceded her in death May 23, 1991.

She was a 1932 graduate of Meadville High School, attended Meadville Commercial College, and worked at Talon for 2 years, and the former American Viscose Co. for 18 years.

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church since 1924, and a member of the church choir for over 50 years.  Also, she was a member for over 50 years of Vernon Grange and was a member for over 50 years and past Noble Grand of Myrtle Rebekah Lodge #60.  She was also a member of the Crawford County Historical Society, Col. Crawford Chapter, D.A.R., a charter volunteer with the R.S.V.P. program at the Senior Center, and the John Brown Heritage Assn.

She is survived by one daughter, D. Sue Beatty Quinn and her husband Richard of Grosse Ile, Mich.; one step-daughter, Jean Harvey of Meadville; one step-son, Charles McCooey, of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Helen Leslie of Pittsburgh, 9 grandchildren, Steve Passilla, Karen Green, Tony Passilla, Jr., Kelly Stopek, Stacy Loudon, Jaci Martinez, Steve, Mike & Ron Beatty,17 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Roberta (Bobbie) Frost; one son, Theodore J. (Ted) Beatty, and one brother, Vincent First.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2004, at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main Street, Meadville with the Rev. William L. Brown and Rev. Cathy Newport, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
