Lillian M. Treharne

Lillian M. Treharne, 93, of Meadville, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

She was born May 2, 1921 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Clifford and Lillian Dixon Rupp.  She married Edgar E. (Gene) Treharne September 9, 1943 and he preceded her in death February 14, 1995.

Lillian was a 1939 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.  She worked at the Brockway Glass Company, W.T. Grant Company for over 20 years, and retired from the financial aid department at Allegheny College in 1986.

A member of Emmanuel Community Church, Lillian was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and Elks Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing “500” with her dear card club members and baking great cookies and pies.  She loved dogs, especially her beloved Bouvier, Chloe, who was her faithful companion for many years.  Those that knew her best, will remember Lillian for her quick wit and fondness of the “sweet” things in life.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara J. Shipman and her husband Michael of Lewisburg; a son, William E. Treharne of Meadville; a sister, Doris Osterhaus and her husband Gordon of Roanoke, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Grube and Margaret Drummond and a brother, George Rupp.

Interment will be in Anita Community Cemetery, Young Township, Jefferson County.  A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
