Lillie Mae Colley, 97, a former Grove City resident, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville, since January 1983, died at Wesbury, Saturday, September 17, 1994, after a period of declining health.
She was born in Luthersburg, Clearfield County, a daughter of Ellis Woodard (Woodie) and Della Lines Kelley. Some of her younger years were spent in a lumber camp which her father, Woodie, managed for the Central Pennsylvania Lumber Company. Here she developed a great love of nature and the outdoors, a trait she carried throughout her life.
Mrs. Colley was a graduate of Edinboro State Normal School and she taught school in Dubois, where she met and married Arthur B. Colley, who later became a United Methodist Clergyman, and served churches in Western Pennsylvania, and served a term as District Superintendent. He preceded her in death August 30, 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, a member of the United Methodist Women, and a Sunday School Teacher at one time.
Survivors include a daughter, Mr. J. B. (Dorothy) White of Indianapolis; a son, Dr. Alfred L. Colley of Philadelphia; a sister, Vivian Monella and a brother, Ralph Kelley, both of Dubois; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
