Linda A. Mauk, 45, of 4905 Sandy Lake Rd., Carlton, died Friday, December 10, 2004 at UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following a 7-year courageous battle with cancer.
She was born September 24, 1959 in Franklin, a daughter of James G. and Audrey M. Kirwin Dick. She married Robert F. Mauk September 16, 1978.
She was a 1977 graduate of Franklin High School. She subsequently received her Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Slippery Rock University in 1994 and was the class Salutatorian. She earned her Certified Public Accountants certification in 1996. She worked as a CPA and manager at McGill, Power, Bell, and Associates, Meadville office from 1994 to 2004. She previously worked for 7 years as the executive secretary to the purchasing agent at Polk State School, Polk, PA. An active leader and achiever throughout her life, she was a former high school cheerleader, was awarded the top high school age typist in the State of PA, and was a member and Junior leader of the 4-H club where she received the Franklin News-Herald 4-H award. She became an adult 4-H leader and was a past president of the PTO.
She was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, PA Institute of CPAs, recipient of the PA Institute’s award for Outstanding Accounting Student in 1994, former board member and treasurer of the Crawford County Chapter of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), and board member of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
A loving wife, mother, and daughter, she was an accomplished sewer, and was an active supporter of Cochranton High School and Allegheny College Women’s Volleyball teams.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 26 years, include 2 daughters, Rhiannon L. Mauk and Alesia M. Mauk, both at home; her parents, James and Audrey Dick of Utica; 3 brothers, James Dick, Jr. and his wife Karen of Cochranton; Steven Dick and his wife Cynthia of Canonsburg; and Ronald Dick and his wife Lynne of Sandy Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral and committal service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Murphy, United Methodist Clergyman officiating.
Burial will be in Lupher Cemetery, Canal Township, Venango County.
