Linda Louise Gandelot passed from this life on December 20, 2017. Ms. Gandelot was born at Meadville City Hospital on October 18, 1948 to Twila Arlene Brawley Gandelot and Harold Joseph Gandelot and was raised with her siblings on the family farm in Guys Mills. Growing up she attended Black Ash, Wayland, and Randolph-East Mead schools, graduating in 1967. As a girl she loved spending time riding her pony Prince and horse Beauty. Following graduation, Ms. Gandelot worked at Wilson’s Lumber and Masons until she was injured in a tragic automobile accident that claimed the life of her mother in 1974. Following a difficult period of recovery, she resumed a life full of faith and encouragement. In her lifetime she served the Lord at the Cochranton CMA Church, the Meadville CMA Church, Lyona Bible Church and the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills.
Linda enjoyed studying her bible, sharing uplifting cards and letters, sewing, caring for her cats and loyal dog Brownie, and following the growth of her many nieces, nephews, and their children. Her life was made richer by the close support of her father, sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Dennis Gregory-with whom she was neighbors for over 40 years. In the final years of her life, Linda enjoyed care and friendship at The Hillside Home and Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville. The special dedication of several caregivers there cannot be underestimated or forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Twila and Harold, and her brother-in-law, Dennis L. Gregory. She is survived by her brother, Paul (Ruth) Gandelot; sister, Ruth (John) Burnham; sister, Shirley Gregory, as well as by George Hamilton, Valerie (James) Grove, and Sandy (Phillip) Bradley. In addition, her memory lives on in the hearts of fourteen nieces and nephews and twenty-two grandnieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 27th from 3 to 6:30 and Thursday December 28th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
