Lloyd Sherman Blocker, Jr.

November 17, 1916 — July 13, 1998

Lloyd S. Blocker, Jr., 81, of Meadville, died Monday, July 13, 1998 at Meadville Medical Center, following a period of declining health.

He was born in Huntington, IN, November 17, 1916, a son of the late Lloyd S. and Ferne Belle (Rarick) Blocker, Sr.  He married Helen Charlotte Brown April 6, 1947 and she preceded him in death December 11, 1992.

He retired from Conrail in Meadville as General Foreman of the Diesel Shop after 45 years of service.  He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville.  He graduated from Huntington High School and attended Purdue University.  She was a veteran of the US Army serving in Europe during WWII.  He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #70, Royal Arch Chapter #62, Grand Council #22 and Grand Commandery, Knights of Templar #35 all of Marion, OH, Scottish Rite Bodies of Columbus, OH, Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie and the Crawford Co. Shrine Club.

Survivors include, a daughter, Mrs. Caryl Jewell (Harry) of Meadville; a son, Mr. Richard Blocker (Mary) of Indianapolis, IN and three grandchildren, Steven Jewell, Laine Blocker and Raymond Blocker.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Clyde Blocker.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
