Lloyd T. “Shorty” Knapp, 83 of Lake Twp, Stoneboro, passed away the morning of May 2, 2019 at Avalon Springs in Mercer. Shorty was born on September 13, 1935 in Fairview Twp to the late Glenn and Marie Vernon Knapp. He was a 1953 graduate of Stoneboro High School and went to work as a truck driver. Shorty was employed for 15 years for Munnell’s Trucking in Fredonia and for 37 years for R.D. Werner in Greenville. Lloyd married his beloved wife, Rebecca “Becky” Bovaird on November 21, 1970, she survives at home. Lloyd adored his family and while not working would spend every moment with them. He enjoyed traveling with his family, going camping, and had visited all 50 states with his wife. He was known as a quiet man of few words. He also enjoyed farming and spending time outdoors. Shorty was also a member of Lakeview Church of God where he served as an usher for many years as well as helped with many church functions. In addition to his wife, Lloyd is survived by his children, Dale Knapp, Transfer, Julie Gannoe (Tracy), West Seneca, NY, Traci Varela (Kiko), Oregon, Keith Patton (Debbie), Waterford, Marilou Witkowski (Mark), Grafton, WV, and Amy Brown (Daniel), Greenville, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sister Catherine Moise, Sumpter, SC, brother Gerald Vernon, Lake Kiowa, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Fred and Mary Vernon, who raised him, siblings, Emory, Charles, Earl, Fred, Elwin, Everette, and Mary Knapp, Eileen Heidish, Kathleen Slater, Helen Slater, Hazel McCurdy, Ella Whitaker, Ruth Gibner, and Elizabeth Temple. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm on Monday, May 6. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 7, at 11 am with the Reverend Robert Mohr, officiating.
