Loen Delos (Dutch) Campbell, Jr.

Loen Delos (Dutch) Campbell, Jr., 86, of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center following a courageous year-long battle with bladder cancer.

He was born January 5, 1926 in Indiana, PA, a son of Loen Delos (Dutch) and Ester Bickers Neff Campbell, Sr.  He married Martha Lee (Teak) Huston in Ford City on November 24, 1948.  His beloved wife preceded him in death September 23, 2005.

Dutch was a graduate of the former Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) and attended the University of Pittsburgh.  He was a life-long employee of the Ford Sperry New Holland Company, working in sales, a job he loved.  He retired in 1988 to enjoy his condo in Florida but most importantly his family and friends in Conneaut Lake.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake.  He was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of Conneaut Lake American Legion Post 587, Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department Station 3, Conneaut Lake Park Volunteer Fire Department Station 5, and Oakland Beach Golf Club.  He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, ping pong, billiards, and bowling and spending time around Conneaut Lake with family and friends.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and San Diego Padres fan.

Survivors include three daughters, Kay Stevens and her husband Bill of Gibsonia, Jane Headley and her husband Kim of Gallatin, TN, and Cathy Clayton of Fairmont, WV; three granddaughters, Julie Stevens Stewart and her husband Andrew, Sara Stevens Bergman and her husband Joshua, and Charley Clayton; three grandsons, Chase Headley and his wife Casey, Nathan Headley, and Garrett Clayton; a great-grandson, Colt Jordan Headley; and his dear friend and companion, Jackie Houserman.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Campbell Murphy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4th from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, 145 S. Fifth St., Conneaut Lake where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Frailey, Church Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Foust Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Rd., Meadville, PA 16335 or Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department Station 3, 11877 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.

Arrangements are under the direction of Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.
