Lois I. Dougherty

Lois I. Dougherty, 90, of Meadville died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Meadville Medical Center.

She was born in West Mifflin Twp., Allegheny Co., PA February 26, 1925 a daughter of Frank and Mabel Lawson Walker.  She married S. Ross Dougherty, Jr. March 9, 1946 and he preceded her in death January 22, 2010.

She was a 1943 graduate of Meadville High School.  She worked part-time as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney Co. in Meadville for 20 years.  She previously had worked for the Keystone Ordinance Works, Meadville Telephone Co. and the former Meadville City Hospital.

She was a member of Emmanuel Community Church and its Women’s Fellowship.  She was a member and Past –President of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary where she was also a volunteer.  She was also a member of the Myrtle Rebekah Lodge.  She enjoyed sewing, bowling and painting.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Rector and her husband Dean of Richmond, VA, Marilyn Hayes of Potomac Falls, VA and Pamela Smith and her husband Alex of Austin, TX; three sons, Samuel R. Dougherty, III and his companion Janet Hajduk of Boise, ID, Jeffrey Dougherty and his wife Patricia of Meadville and Lee Dougherty and his wife Patricia of Hampstead, NC; a sister, Patricia Eby and her husband Harry of Atascadero, CA; eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Warren, Oliver, Lynn, Lee and Albert Walker and a son-in-law, Kevin Hayes.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 – 5 p.m. at Emmanuel Community Church, 30 N. Park Avenue, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the church with Rev. Dr. Timothy Solomon, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
