Lois J. Shilling Peterson, 84, of Cochranton, and formerly a life-long resident of Shilling Road, Meadville, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born at home in Union Township on September 5, 1937, a daughter of Clarence H. and Mary E. Styer Shilling. She married Edwin Dale Peterson August 6, 1960 and he preceded her in death August 26, 2012.
Lois was a 1954 graduate of Cochranton High School and was employed at AAA in Meadville for forty five and a half years until her retirement in 2000.
Lois enjoyed yard work, gardening, canning, and friends and family. She especially enjoyed the many family and friends that camped many weekends and holidays at her and her husband’s farm throughout the summers. She also enjoyed the many family gatherings at their home and spending time with her many nieces and nephews and their families.
Survivors include her sister, Margaret Gevin (Milo) and their family of Cochranton; her brother, John A. Shilling (Kay) and their family of Conneaut Lake; the family of her deceased brother, Duane C. Shilling; and the family of her deceased sister, Edith Shuffstall.
In addition to her husband Dale and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Duane C. Shilling; a sister, Edith Shuffstall; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Shilling; a brother-in-law, Clifford Shuffstall; her step-father, William Schlachter; a step-sister, Jane Gsell; and a step-brother, William Schlachter, Jr.
Calling hours will be Monday, February 21st from 3-6 p.m. and Tuesday, February 22nd from 10-11 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John McGarvey of the Cochranton Christian and Missionary Alliance Church officiating.
Interment will be in Huber Cemetery, Union Township.
