Lorance S. (Bud) Wasson, 80, of 20686 Blooming Valley Road, Meadville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at his residence. He was born February 2, 1923 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Stanley H. and Malvena McNamara Wasson. He married Maryevelyn Flick February 5, 1947. He was a 1941 graduate of Meadville High School and a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, serving with the 92nd Bomb Group. He retired from Penelec as district manager in 1984, following over 30 years of service. He was a member of the West Mead Township Board of Supervisors from 1966 to 1996. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #408, Meadville; Past Thrice Illustrious Master of the former Timothy Alden Council #60, Meadville, now merged with Sharon Council #48, Greenville; Past Most Excellent High Priest of the former Solomon Royal Arch Chapter #191, Meadville, now merged with Mound Royal Arch Chapter #212, Greenville; Past Commander of the former Northwestern Commandery #25, Knights Templar, Meadville, now merged with Mount Olivet Commandery #30, Erie; member of St. Johns Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, Erie; member of the Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie; and member of the Crawford County Shrine Club, Meadville. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and was a former champion. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, traveling across the U.S. and internationally; spending time at the family camp, "Camp Baldi", and especially being with family and attending family reunions. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Meadville where he was a member of the mens bible class, a former Sunday School teacher, and actively held numerous leadership positions. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include 3 daughters, M. Loralyn Wasson Barnes and her husband Charles of Montgomery, AL; Dianne Lawson of Meadville; and Marla Wasson of Lewisberry; 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey Barnes, Jennifer Barnes, Nathan Robison, Matthew Davis, Tyler Davis, and Ann Davis; a sister, Evelyn Farnum and her husband, Geoffrey of Boston, MA; a brother, William Wasson and his wife Christine of Conneaut, OH; several nieces and nephews; and 2 sisters-in-law, Kathryn Wykoff and Bonnie Wasson, both of Meadville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Wasson. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. A Masonic Service will be Thursday (today) at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 353 Chestnut St., Meadville with Rev. Gregory Streed officiating. Burial will be in Saegertown Cemetery with military honors provided by Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #2006, Meadville.
