Lorinda M. Schorting

August 29, 1941 — August 17, 2015

Lory M. Schorting, 73, of Meadville, died at home surrounded by her family, Monday, August 17, 2015 from complications of surgery and renal failure.

She was born in Monongahela, PA August 29, 1941 a daughter of the late Primeste and Ruth Pellegrini Rocca.

Lory was a 1959 graduate of Monongahela High School and a graduate of the former Edinboro State Teachers College.  She taught at Townville High School, Seton Catholic School and retired from Cochranton High School in 2007where she taught French and English.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, cooking and watching C-Span.  She was instrumental in both of her daughters’ education, helping Lee Ann earn her Masters in Nursing and helping Caroline earn her Bachelors in Nursing.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lee Ann Leech and her husband Michael of Meadville and Caroline Carradine of Youngstown, OH; three grandchildren, Crystal Carradine, Emily Leech and Ryan Leech; and a brother, Thomas P. Rocca and his wife Cheryl of Woodstock, GA.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Marshall Lillie, Chaplain of Hospice of Crawford County, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery, Frenchtown.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
