Louis D. Walrath

January 17, 1880 — September 28, 1962

Louis D. Walrath, 82, of Binghamton, NY, died Friday morning, September 28, 1962, at Wilson Memorial Hospital Johnson City, NJ, following a short illness.

He was born at Conneautville January 17, 1880, a son of John A. and Olive Hill Walrath, and married the former Elizabeth Humphrey on July 1, 1904.  They formerly resided in Meadville.

Mr. Walrath formerly was employed at Keystone View Co. and later worked as an insurance broker.  He retired in May of 1961.

He was a member of Centenary Methodist Church, Binghamton, and its official board and board of trustees.  He was a 50-year Mason and a member of Maine Masonic Lodge, Maine, NY.

He was graduated from Asbury College, Wilmore, KY, and later taught Greek and Latin at the college.  He also did graduate work at Chicago University.

Surviving, besides his widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Leadbetter of Endwell, NY and Mrs. Frederick (Hazel) Vogelgsang of Oxford, NY; three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Lillian) Lawrence of Keystone Heights, FL, Mrs. Mildred Starns of Conneautville and Mrs. Alton Hurd of Bessemer; three brothers, Frank of Keystone Heights, Winifred of Ft. Myers, FL and Paul of Pittsburgh; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
