Louis H. Carpenter, Jr.

October 10, 1933 — November 7, 2015

Louis H. Carpenter, Jr., 82, of Mahaffey, PA and formerly of Guys Mills, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Brunswick, GA.

He was born October 10, 1933 in Guy Mills, a son of Louis H. and Ellen Proper Carpenter, Sr.  He married Elsie Bogle McIlrath July 5, 2008 and she survives.

Louis attended Randolph High School and retired as a heavy equipment operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  He previously had been employed as a truck driver for Clair Ferry Trucking Company.

Louis was affiliated with the Mahaffey Alliance Church and the Meadville Alliance Church.  He was a wonderful carpenter and wood worker and made furniture and other items for various people.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Elsie, include a son, Randy L. Carpenter and his wife Penny of New Castle; a daughter, Gloria McNamara and her husband Bret of Meadville; four stepchildren, Jim McIlrath and his wife Debbie of Brunswick, GA, Dave McIlrath and his wife Chris of Grove Port, OH, Marilyn Schouten and her husband John of Newark, OH, and Dan McIlrath and his wife Sue of West Middlesex; three sisters, Helen Pierce and her husband Norm of Guys Mills, Elsa Holbrook and her husband Dick of Meadville, and Winnie Miller and her husband Richard of Mebane, NC; four grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral and committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Conley, Pastor of Meadville Alliance Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
