Louis L. Beltz

Louis L. Beltz, 85, of Meadville, and a resident of Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown, died Sunday, October 15, 2000, following a period of declining health.

Born in Banning October 15, 1915, he was a son of Anton and Louise Zaverl Beltz.  He married Julia Yemc April 10, 1943.

He was a 1934 graduate of Sewickley Township High School in Herminie, and a 1949 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in education.  He received his master's degree in education from Penn State University in 1954.

He was a US Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a business teacher at Meadville Area Senior High School from 1952 to 1979, and retired after 27 years.  Previously, he had been a teacher at Juniata Valley High School in Alexandria from 1949 to 1952.

He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church.

An avid sportsman, he was head baseball coach at Juniata Valley for three years.  At Meadville, he was head track coach for three years, assistant track coach for 12 years and assistant football coach for 16 years.  He was also an intramural basketball coach.  He helped to organize Meadville's Little League program and was a manager of several Little League teams.  He was also an avid bowler and golfer.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 57 years, include a daughter, Barbara Dillaman (Gary) of Meadville; a son, David Beltz of Lakeland, FL; three grandchildren, Ashley Dillaman, Gary Dillaman and Cody Beltz; three sisters, Lucille Mayo and Betty Colosimo, both of Pittsburgh, and Agnes Bozel of Herminie; and two brothers, Phillip and Joseph Beltz of Greensburg.

Services were held at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
