Louise M. Adsit, of 842 Market St., Meadville, died Tuesday, December 16, 1997 at Millcreek Community Hospital, Erie following a short illness.
She was born in Summit Township, Crawford County, a daughter of the late Richard M. and Mae Gibson Adsit.
Miss Adsit was a graduate of Meadville High School and Meadville Commercial College. She worked as a clerk for 38 years at the Crawford County Courthouse, Office of Register and Recorder. She also did work for many local area attorneys. She was a member of Colonel Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of Golden Crown Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Crawford County Historical Society. She was a former committee woman of the Crawford County Republican Party and was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame. She was an avid historian and genealogist.
She as a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Bernice A. Mattocks of Erie whom she resided with for the past 4 years; a brother, Alfred C. (Dorothy) Adsit of Meadville; a niece, Beverly J. Hopkins of Erie; two nephews, Norman A. Voorhees of Vestal, NY and Richard E. Adsit of Meadville; six great-nieces; five great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Donna Adsit and Francis Voorhees.
A funeral service was held at the funeral with Rev. William Brown of Stone United Methodist Church.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
