Louise Parsons Thomas

January 31, 1922 — January 23, 2012

Louise Parsons Thomas, 89, of Meadville, beloved wife of Robert W. Thomas, died Thursday, January 23, 2012, one week shy of her 90th birthday.  Born January 31, 1922, Louise was the daughter of Lillian Harries Parsons and Dr. Percy Paul Parsons of Erie.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. William H. Parsons and a sister, Miriam Parsons, also of Erie.

She was a graduate of Erie Strong Vincent High School and, in 1943, graduated from Allegheny College.  She and Robert met during their freshman year at Allegheny and were married October 23, 1943, before Robert entered the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Louise was an active member of Stone United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang for 20 years in the choir.  She was a member of the alumnae chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, the Hill Top Garden Club, the Meadville Antique Study Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of Meadville Medical Center.

Most of all, Louise was a beloved wife, mother, and friend, and a wonderful homemaker and cook.

She will be missed by many - for her warmth, optimism, and kitchen-table wisdom – most especially by her husband Robert and three children, Dr. Christopher Thomas and his wife Charlotte of Meadville, Molly Lundquist and her husband Peter of Pittsburgh, and Janet Kenney and her husband Pete of Molina, CO; also, by three grandchildren, David Thomas, Jeffrey Thomas and his wife Monica, and Dana Louise Lundquist; three nieces, Catherine MacGregor, Nancy Morgan, and Carrie Stevens; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Mountsier.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor, officiating.

Memorials may be made to Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville, PA 16335 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
