Louise Winters, 83, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all she touched, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Crawford County Care Center.
Louise was born November 27, 1927 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Christian and Emma Wyler Becker. She married Kenneth J. Winters December 3, 1948 and together had seven children. He preceded her in death July 20, 1970. She then spent the remainder of her life with her best friend and companion, Richard Wermlinger. He passed away June 8, 2009.
A homemaker, Louise’s life was focused around her family. Her hobbies included gardening, canning and cooking. She loved to get together with her family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include seven children, Patrick Winters and his wife Karen, Christine Schweitzer and her husband Richard, Marlene Allen and her husband Tom, Jon Winters and his companion Kay Ferraro, William Winters and his wife Jackie; Patricia Marsh and her husband Douglas, and Susan Johnston and her husband Dale; her long-time companion Richard Wermlinger's children, Charmaine Smith and her husband Ron, Lou Ann Simmons and her husband Murray, and Julia Conner; a sister, Margaret Anderson; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, husband, and companion, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Seaman and three brothers, Carl, Christian, and Frederick Becker.
As she wished to be remembered as she was in life, there will be no calling hours. A private family funeral and committal service will be at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Frank Duncan officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
To honor Louise in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., Meadville, PA 16335 or the Crawford County Care Center, Alzheimer’s Unit, 20881 State Hwy 198, Saegertown, PA 16433.
The family wishes to thank all those who lovingly touched their lives cared for Louise throughout her illness, her primary caregiver and the Crawford County Care Center. They are so grateful for the love shown to Louise and her family. May she rest in peace, her suffering is over, and she will be so sadly missed by her family who will forever love her and keep her in their hearts.
