Lucile R. Pierson

January 28, 1897 — January 6, 1976

Mrs. Lucile R. Pierson, of Meadville, died suddenly at Spencer Hospital, Tuesday, January 6, 1976.

Born in Meadville, she was a daughter of Paul H. and Mabel M. Smith Richard.  She was the widow of Leon D. Pierson who died in 1939.  A member of First Presbyterian Church, she was a graduate of Meadville public school and Allegheny College.  She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and was a past president of the sorority's Alumni Chapter.  For many years, she was alumni trustee of Allegheny College.

A volunteer for more than 50 years with the Red Cross, she was center director of the local blood bank at the time of her death.  She also was a former board member at the Meadville YWCA.  A charter member and past president of the City Hospital Aux., she also was a former member of City Hospital Board of Directors.

A USO volunteer during World War II, she served on the board of directors of the former Community Chest for ten years.  She was a member and former board member of the Meadville Woman's Club, a member of Meadville Garden Club and was an associate member of Meadville Country Club.

Survivors include a son, L. Richard Pierson of Meadville and three grandchildren, Miss Ann Pierson, Paul Richard and David L. Pierson, all of Meadville.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
