Lucile Schwab, 79, of 575 North St., Meadville, died Monday, August 27, 2001 at her residence.
She was born February 12, 1922 in Greenbank, WV, a daughter of the late Ira and Rella Taylor Sheets. She married Otto (Ted) Schwab March 24, 1951 and he preceded her in death March 16, 1999.
She was a 1940 graduate of Meadville High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. She worked as a bookkeeper and sales clerk at Montgomery Wards for 15 years. She previously worked at the Crawford Store and also taught beauty culture. She was a life member of the Dorothy Kimmel American Legion Post 891 and was formerly an active community volunteer at the Meadville Medical Center, American Cancer Society, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and Senior Citizens.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and former member of State Road United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Kyle Sheets of Meadville; 3 sisters, Ollie Mae Hart and Mary Sheets, both of Meadville and Grace Demeter of Painesville, OH; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wilson Sheets and 4 nephews.
A private family service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville, with the Rev. Richard Haugh, retired United Methodist clergyman, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA, the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, Meadville or the Meadville Medical Center, 751 Liberty Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
