Lucille B. (Smith) Weaver

March 26, 1913 — February 9, 2008

Lucille B. Smith Weaver, 95, formerly of Jamestown House, Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since January 2001 died there Saturday, February 9, 2008.

She was born in Putneyville (Armstrong Co.), PA March 26, 1913 a daughter of James P. and Olive Schreckengost Smith.  She married Reeves H. Weaver December 1984 and she preceded him in death February 1985.

She worked as a Personnel Classification Clerk for various federal government departments including the Departments of Interior, Health Education and Welfare and the Children’s Bureau for 30 years retiring in 1980.

She was a veteran of World War II with the Women’s Army Corps serving in Italy and North Africa.  She was a graduate of Kittanning High School and Iowa State University.

Survivors, include: a step-daughter, Joanne LaTourette of Meadville; a step-son, Rev. Richard Weaver of Glen Rock, PA; a niece, Sharon Robertson of Johnstown; two nephews, Vernon Keith Smith of Mountaintop, PA and Gary Smith of Carnegie, PA; a brother, Wayne L. Smith of New Brighton, MN; five step-grandchildren, James Weaver of Manheim, PA, Jonathan Weaver of Glen Rock, PA, Claudia Mayer of Windham, NH, Mark Dobson of Howell, MI and Stephanie Dobson of Burlington, IA and several great grandchildren and grand nieces and grand nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Weaver and three brothers, Vernon Smith, Wallace Smith and an infant brother.

Calling hour will be Friday from 1-2 p.m. at the Varner Funeral Home, 1632 Bald Eagle Street, Sligo, PA with the service following at 2 p.m.

Burial will be in Squirrel Hill Cemetery, New Bethlehem, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
