Lyle E. Mcguire

October 1, 1923 — November 27, 2001

Lyle E. McGuire, 78, of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born October 1, 1923, in Dicksonburg, a son of the late William and Bessie Barber McGuire.  He married Betty Harshaw December 14, 1946 and she survives.

He was a 1942 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School and a US Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre of Operations including the Battle of the Bulge.  He worked for the US Postal Service, Conneaut Lake office for 35 years, retiring in 1982.  He was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219, Conneaut Lake American Legion Post #0587, Conneaut Lake Ambulance Service, and Conneaut Lake VFD.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.

He was a member of Fifth Street Presbyterian Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 54 years, include a brother, Ned McGuire of Odessa, TX and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean McGuire and Bernice Seely and a brother, Norman McGuire.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
