Miss Lynnie E. Oakes, a retired school teacher and longtime resident of Meadville, died on May 21, 1975, at Aldersgate Nursing Home, Kissimmee, FL, after a short illness.
Miss Oakes was born near Guys Mills in the Sugar Lake area of Pennsylvania on August 10, 1880. She graduated from Springboro High School, Edinboro State Normal School and obtained her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Michigan in 1910.
She taught in the public school systems of Ashtabula and Akron, OH and in Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Iva Carroll of Denver, CO; two nieces, Mrs. Morgan Olcott of Glen Rock, NJ and Mrs. Richard Dunham of Munice, IN; and one nephew, Mr. Harold Oakes of Berkley Heights, NJ.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
