M. Elaine McCallister, 84 of Sandy Lake, passed away on April 8, 2020 at AHN Grove City. Elaine was born on February 9, 1936 in Meadville to the late Charles F. and Sarah G. (DeWolf) Riordan. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Agatha High School in Meadville and went onto Duquesne University. While at Duquesne she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music in 1957, and then her Master’s in Music in 1985. Elaine began her teaching career at Meadville Elementary Schools, then taught at Commodore Perry, then retiring from Lakeview School District in 1993 where she taught vocal music for 30 years. Elaine was a member of St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church in Stoneboro, she was an avid tennis player and a member of the PSEA, NEA, and PSAR. Most of all Elaine was a loving teacher, wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed. Elaine married her beloved husband, Raymond E. McCallister on February 7, 1959, he preceded her in death on September 24, 2015. Elaine is survived by her children, Doreen McCallister Hall and husband Charles of Maryland, Melanie McCartney and husband Steve of Mercer, Patrick McCallister and wife Mary Ann of Pittsburgh, Heather Reisinger and husband Jeff of Valencia, and Shawna Sunseri of Pittsburgh, as well as 7 grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her son Michael McCallister, and brother William Riordan. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Homes, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake. Due to recent health concerns, visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be private. Public visitation and a public Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.
